Locality
A five-minute walk and you will find yourself in the heart of Youghal town. Much of Youghal dates back from the 13th century and parts of it are even older. It was built as a fortified town to defend and control trade on the Blackwater River, which leads into the heart of Munster's rich farmlands. The old stonewalls that surround the town were first built by the Normans and three of the towers still remain. It is possible to explore the town walls and one of the towers and really get a feel for how Youghal might
have been centuries ago.
